The MentorScore Story

Founder Scott Jones, one of Indiana’s top investors, inventors and philanthropists, has figured out the problem of how to institutionalize mentoring in businesses and universities.  Scott partnered with long-time capital campaign consultants and alumni fundraisers Wade and Kaki Garard to establish Upper Network in 2014.  Upper Network developed alumni engagement and mentee coaching practices and now serves retail customers as well as University and Fraternal clients.  Upper Network developed curriculum that makes mentoring programs actually work.  In 2010 The Garard duo also discovered local media CEO Evan Burns of Odyssey while he was still in college.  The Garards invested in Odyssey and then mentored Evan who is now a Forbes 30 Under 30 in marketing so that he could successfully build what is now the fastest growing media company in the country.   Two other founding Odyssey investors founded and invested in Upper Network, LLC / Mentorscore: Doug Harlan, Executive Vice President of Harlan Bakeries and managing director of Harlan Companies  and John Green, Executive Chairman of Founders Brewing Company round out the Upper Network / MentorScore Board.
While running mentoring programs for Indiana University, Beta Theta Pi and UCLA Athletics, the Upper Network team decided to build a relationship management app called Uppernets for iPhone for commercial use.  The app was launched in December 2015 and the app and associated curriculum is white labeled as an enterprise solutions for organizations.  In March 2016, Upper Network launched Mentorscore a platform for businesses and colleges to make mentoring work.
